Embracing All

I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.
— Jesus Christ

Because God has shown us hospitality, we endeavor to show hospitality to all people. Christ said to us, “I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.” We’ve already mentioned that we are proud to be an Open And Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ.

This isn’t just part of our desire to be hospitable—while that’s true for sure, we believe we have a unique position in the West Side of Cincinnati to be a spiritual oasis for people who have been burned by racism, homophobia, misogyny, and exclusion. We want to take a bold stand for inclusion, which is not simply making sure we have all our “diversity” boxes on a checklist ticked off, but rather, we are actively trying to grow in the way we include people with different life experiences in our life together by listening to the needs of others who aren’t like us.

Opportunities to practice embracing all:

Our greeter and usher teams are an important part of our mission to embrace all, as is everyone who joins together on Sunday morning.

Our hospitality team, a crew of volunteers, prepares and serves coffee and snacks before service each week during the school year.

Our mission and outreach team, who lead our congregation in projects of outreach and service throughout the year, especially with our partner congregation in Camp Washington.

To get involved with any of these teams, get in touch with our office or with Pastor Nate on a Sunday and we will connect you with the right people!
