Music & Arts
Music at Pilgrim is led primarily by our Organist & Choir Director, David Ralphs, who holds a master’s degree in organ performance from Brigham Young University. Each week, David leads us in worship with a number of different styles of classical and contemplative music, and throughout the school year, our Chancel Choir enriches our worship space with thoughtful and musically robust offerings.
Our liturgical music features traditional hymnody, Taizé chant, folk songs, and more than a couple of show tunes each week.
We are in the process of discerning what our next steps in music are while remaining faithful to our tradition—we envision incorporating world percussion, guitars, and new styles of music as a part of what we are already doing, and seeking a blend of styles that is held together by excellence. We believe that it’s not someone’s turn all the time, but it’s everyone’s turn sometimes!
We also hope to grow in our use of the visual arts in our worship space and life together, and welcome artists to our community to bring bold, fresh, and soul-lifting visions of the world. If you have a musical talent that you would like to share with us, there’s space for you here!
